Answers

1) Is it really free?

Yes. Site design and creation is completely free; you will not be charged for these services. Hosting of your site or blog will only cost you $9/month, payable through PayPal.

2) What will my web address be?

If you do not have your own domain name, your web address will be yoursitename.skatoolaki.com.

Skatoolaki.com is the domain where your site or blog will be hosted. If you want to purchase your own domain name, I suggest going through GoDaddy - they offer affordable domain names and excellent customer service.

3) Why do I need a real world presence?

When residents aren't in Second Life, they're spending time in the real world - think of it as simply another avenue to reach your customers or audience. Having a website with pertinent information can be a big help to those that have questions about your product or business and would like to learn more about what you're offering.

It also frees you up from explaining the same things over and over, you can simply hand potential customers or friends a notecard/business card with your web address on it!

4) Why do you use templates instead of your own designs?

Using templates frees up a lot of time for me and allows me to take on more customers at once and complete everyones' job in much less time. It's more efficient for you and for me to use pre-made templates.

Unfortunately, this is a secondary life for me - and you as well, I'm sure. I just don't have the time to dedicate building unique and individual sites for every resident who hires me - though I certainly wish I could!

For websites, I use the templates at Free CSS Templates. For blogs, Free WP Themes.

5) How much room do I get with my hosting package?

Your $9/month gets you 50 MB of storage space and 1 GB data transfer per month. This can be increased if needed for a minimal fee.

6) Do you create websites for escort services or the like?

Certainly! I won't discriminate. As long as it's nothing involving children or animals, I don't have a problem working with you. Adult-themed businesses and hard-working sex industry residents need exposure, too.

7) How do I update my blog or website?

Blogs are maintained by you using the WordPress interface. Websites are maintained through me. Any changes - additions or exclusions - are free and can be emailed or sent to me in-world. A re-design of your entire site or blog incurs a $10, one-time fee.

8) What do you use in your work?

For site design/mods, I use Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 (though I often prefer to just straight handcode) and Adobe Photoshop 7.0. Under my employ are a legion of one-legged, hunchbacked, hair-lipped gnomes with psoriasis without whom I could not get half of my work done.
